Improving Self-esteem

Low self-esteem can often be linked to low confidence, but this is not always the case. Self-esteem is feeling good about ourselves. It is about valuing ourselves and how we see ourselves in the world. Low self esteem results from having a poor self-image caused by a negative attitude.

For example: you do not value the job you do highly or you feel you have no purpose in your life. Not surprisingly, high self-esteem is the opposite. If you have a high level you will be confident, happy and sure of yourself. You would be highly motivated and have the right attitude to succeed. The way we look can impact on our self-esteem. If we think we are fat, ugly and unfashionable, we may think that others do not like us. Lack of exercise can make us feel lazy, unfit and can lead to low mood. This can impact on how we see ourselves. Improving our fitness levels, changing our attitudes and beginning to value ourselves in society can lead to greater fulfilment.
